hearts are for Fridays+ I heart lilli

And I have yet again stumbled upon another AMAZING Mexican artist, Lorena Lazard, right from Mexico City. She obviously has a true admiration for the human heart, which is very significant in Mexican culture, and they way she mixes different metals, as well knitting/hand sewing techniques (right up my alley). I also love how she frames a lot of her pieces, in the typical artisan way. Her CV is pretty crazy too, so many exhibitions she has done, published books, featured in magazines. I'm WAY inspired, and am sending hearts to Lilli. xxRach

Just for your Rach

The heart, dear Rachel, is for you--know it's right up your alley. Otherwise, just wanted to share Sarah Illenberger's work. Her stuff is amazing--serious, with a definite touch of humor. Love that it's all hand made and not computer generated. If only I had her skills. Top image is from the New York Times Magazine, which I totally remember seeing and admiring when it first came out. xolil

Taxco, MX

Taxco is a small silver mining town in central Mexico, which holds most of Mexico's silver and silversmiths. So naturally, they have some of the most AMAZING Jewelry I have laid my eyes upon!! This is where some of the best jewelers from Mexico apprenticed. *wishful thinking for me!!! Enjoy more beautiful silver. xxRach

Stine Goya fw2010

LOVED this collection! AGAIN with the hats...I love excess studs ha, and in refreshing colors, vs my usual love for blacks, greys and navy. Please fall in love with Stine Goya here as I have. Here are a few pics from the show. xxRach

WANT THIS!

GREAT outfit! I just really like it and her style. check her out here. xxRach

Oh Behnaz!!!!

I have been a fan of Behnaz Sarafpour since day one!! I love the simplicity, yet so much femininity in every piece!! As soon as I saw this collection I was in love! The hats are amazing, they kind of remind me of the hats Penelope wore in Vicky Cristina Barcelona...which I have been wanting and needing. The pleated wide leg trousers and cropped coat made me smile the instant I saw it, the white version perfect for Spring evenings! Love the wrap coats...and all the jackets in general. Plus EVERY girl needs a sparkly dress for good occasions ha! Here are pics of my fav outfits! enjoy xxRach

they don't make things like they used too...

...and that's why I am so inspired by this amazing silver work from renowned artist/silversmith Antonio Pineda. I absolutely love his style and craftsmanship. He is definitely a big inspiration for my future works. Antonio started apprenticing at the age of 11, wow so wild!! I need to catch up. He created everything in Taxco, which is one, if not the top silver producing cities in the world, outside of Mexico City. I couldn't pick one favourite, so put a medley of his pieces, so you can get an idea of his creations. These are a selction of his top pieces between 1930s-1950s. xxRach

Neck Stuff

Here are a few different and beautiful pieces of necklaces I found scouring the internet! So pretty and chunky and layered. As well how could I not put up ALL those huge rings!! Looking like Mr T is a good thing in my books!! xxRach
